Nature Action Accelerator

The programme for building your credible nature strategy

About the programme

Is your company ready to turn the challenges of biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation into opportunities for resilience and growth?

The Nature Action Accelerator will equip you with the knowledge, tools and skills to develop a credible nature strategy for your company. Through in-person and digital workshops, peer exchanges, office hours with experts, and a digital learning platform, you will learn how to:

  • Identify and evaluate your company’s most material impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities related to nature across operations and value chains.
  • Define your ambition for contributing to a nature-positive future and set science-aligned targets linked to your material nature issues.
  • Develop and implement action plans to avoid and reduce negative impacts, restore and regenerate ecosystems, and embed nature considerations into business models, governance and decision-making.
  • Enhance transparency and credibility by aligning reporting with frameworks like TNFD and SBTN, ensuring C-suite/board approval and accountability for delivery.

The programme also gives you the chance to meet peers, exchange best practices and knowhow within and across industries.

The Nature Action Accelerator is a brand-new programme by UNGC Sweden designed to support companies in developing and publishing a credible nature strategy. Recognising that companies have varying levels of readiness or capability when it comes to taking action on nature, it provides the essential tools, methodologies and practical learnings businesses need to move forward. The programme is based on the Nature Strategy Handbook from Business for Nature.

The programme fee is 10 000 SEK per company.

Why?

The programme responds to the widespread need for hands-on support in developing credible nature strategies, particularly in areas where many companies struggle, such as assessing nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities (DIROs), and linking these insights to actionable, strategic responses.

By developing and delivering a credible nature strategy, companies can mitigate these risks and seize opportunities to innovate, build trust and contribute to a nature-positive future.

When and where?

The programme will run from early February to late May 2026, with the first and last workshops taking place in person in Stockholm and Gothenburg respectively. All other workshops and sessions will be held online. Dates are to be confirmed.

During the programme, you are expected to allocate time for two full-day in-person workshops and four to six 3-hour digital workshops. In addition, you are expected to allocate time between sessions to prepare and read study materials.

Application deadline is 15 December 2025.

For whom?

The Nature Action Accelerator is tailored to help companies getting ready for developing a credible nature strategy. The programme will go through the key stages of developing a nature strategy and thus, the participants should be ready to dive into these when starting the programme.

Two representatives per company can attend the programme, of which at least one should attend all sessions and ideally represent the sustainability team/function. The programme will be delivered in English.

The programme is hosted by UNGC Sweden and is therefore exclusively offered to Swedish companies who are part of UN Global Compact.

Info Session

On 27 October, we hosted an online information session about the programme. During the session, we went through everything participants needed to know and answered questions about the programme and the application process.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I apply?

The application process has two steps:

    1. Submit the general application form on this page.
    2. After submission, you will receive a link via email to an online form that must also be completed for your application to be valid.

The application deadline is 15 December 2025. Please note that an application does not guarantee a spot in the programme. UNGC Sweden will assess applications and accept companies to the programme on an ongoing basis. We will notify all applicants of their acceptance status no later than 19 December 2025.

Who can participate in the programme?

The Nature Action Accelerator is hosted by UNGC Sweden and will therefore exclusively welcome Swedish companies who are part of UN Global Compact. The programme will be delivered in English to allow for non-Swedish speakers to attend.

Do we have to attend all sessions?

Yes, full participation is expected in all mandatory programme elements, such as the workshops. We highly recommend two company representatives to participate to make sure at least one of you can attend all sessions.

We recommend that a sustainability expert serve as the main contact person and primary participant in the programme, attending all mandatory sessions. A second participant may either join all sessions consistently or rotate depending on the workshop topic.

  • What is the participation fee for the programme?

The fee to attend the programme is 10 000 SEK excl. VAT (moms) per company. Note that the fee will not cover any travel-related expenses for the two mandatory in-person workshops in Stockholm and Gothenburg taking place in early February and late May respectively.

What is the time commitment for the programme?

The programme will run for four months. During that time, you need to allocate time for two full-day in-person workshops and four to six 3-hour digital workshops. In addition, you are expected to allocate time between sessions to prepare and read study materials.

What is the relationship between the Nature Action Accelerator and the It’s Now for Nature campaign?

The Nature Action Accelerator is partly based on the global It’s Now for Nature campaign and the Nature Strategy Handbook from Business for Nature.

  • Do we have to develop a nature strategy during the programme?

We understand that every organisation is at a different stage in its sustainability journey. The aim of the Nature Action Accelerator is to support participants in making substantial progress toward a credible nature strategy, not to impose rigid deadlines. We encourage you to do your best with the time and resources available. The key is commitment to learning and advancing your company’s approach, rather than completing a finished document within a fixed timeframe.

We’ve already started developing our nature strategy and made good progress. Will this programme still be relevant for us?

Absolutely. The Nature Action Accelerator is designed for participants at different levels of maturity, from those just beginning to those already on their way. It focuses on the latest developments in this rapidly evolving field and provides opportunities for deep dives into key topics. Participants with prior experience will benefit from advanced insights and peer learning, while those newer to the topic will gain foundational understanding and practical tools. Everyone will benefit from hands-on exercises, cross-sector dialogue, and networking.

The timing doesn’t work for us right now. Can we join a future round instead?

We expect to run the programme again in 2027, but that is not for certain. So, if you want to be sure to gain from the Nature Action Accelerator, we recommend you sign up for this round.

  • We already have a climate strategy. Do we really need a separate nature strategy?

Not necessarily. Many companies choose to integrate nature-related goals and actions into their existing strategies, such as climate or sustainability strategies. However, there are important differences between climate and nature work. Developing a nature strategy involves specific techniques and considerations, such as identifying nature dependencies, ecosystem impacts, and location-based risks, that are often new to those familiar with climate strategies. The Nature Action Accelerator will help you understand these unique aspects and provide practical guidance on how to integrate nature considerations effectively within your existing frameworks.

We did a double materiality analysis, and biodiversity and other nature-related issues didn’t come out as material. Should we still develop a nature strategy?

If your assessment was thorough and credible, and it truly found that nature-related impacts and dependencies are not material, then there is no requirement to develop a dedicated strategy. However, if your analysis was more of a high-level screening, it may indicate a need for deeper exploration before drawing firm conclusions. Many companies find that when they examine both direct and indirect impacts, particularly in their supply chains, nature often proves to be material in at least some areas.

The Nature Action Accelerator will equip you with tools and frameworks to make such determinations with greater confidence. Also, keep in mind that risk management is only one reason to engage with nature. Developing a nature strategy can also drive innovation, strengthen stakeholder trust, enhance long-term resilience, and open access to new business opportunities and partnerships.

  • What support will we receive after the programme?

You will have access to a peer network, resource library and follow-up sessions within the alumni network to support your journey towards developing a nature strategy.

What resources are available if we are not ready to join the Nature Action Accelerator?

If you are not yet ready to develop a nature strategy but would like to learn more and get started on nature, we highly recommend that you look into the Nordic Nature Starter Pack.

If you would like to access the recordings and study materials from the Nature Starter Pack, contact Albert Askeljung Andrée, Programme Manager for Environment and Climate at UNGC Sweden.

  • Who can I contact if I have more questions?

If you have any questions about the Nature Action Accelerator, please contact Albert Askeljung Andrée, Programme Manager for Environment and Climate at UNGC Sweden.
