EU’s directive on Sustainable Corporate Governance

Update: As the EU Commission has decided to postpone their decision on the directive, we will be moving our event early into next year.

Sustainable corporate governance has been on the EU’s agenda for quite some time now and has been gaining attention since last year. In April 2020, the European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders made a long-awaited announcement that the Commission will propose legislation on mandatory corporate sustainable due diligence in 2021. In September 2020, the European Parliament Committee on Legal Affairs issued a draft report that was adopted as the EU Parliament as the so-called Parliament Initiative. The Initiative has two main pillars: (a) obligations for companies to conduct due diligence, and (b) rights for individuals and stakeholders to hold companies liable for non-compliance, which constitute some of the core areas that the EU Commission’s directive is expected cover. 

After a few delays, the EU Commission is now expected to take a decision on the new Sustainable Corporate Governance directive on the 8th December*.

This webinar will summarise and reflect on the main aspects on the EU Commissions Sustainable corporate governance directive and its implications for the European and Swedish companies.

23 mars: Introduktion till EU:s kommande lagkrav om Human…

Just nu utformas en ny EU-lag som kommer kräva att företag genomför en Human rights due diligence inom ramen för sitt arbete med att respektera mänskliga rättigheter. Lagkravet väntas beröra alla företag och dessutom innehålla sanktioner för den som inte uppfyller de nya kraven.

Detta webbsända event kommer att ge en introduktion till EU:s kommande lagkrav om due diligence av mänskliga rättigheter samt beskriva hur företag rent praktiskt kan arbeta med att respektera mänskliga rättigheter utifrån existerande ramverk.

Dessutom kommer en interaktiv del att ingå där du som åhörare får möjlighet att diskutera utmaningarna i arbetet med mänskliga rättigheter och vad kommande lagkrav väntas innebära för din verksamhet. Genom detta hoppas vi skapa insikter kring vilken typ av stöd från UN Global Compact eller beslutsfattare som efterfrågas av våra medlemmar inom området.

Moderator för eventet är Théo Jaekel, Corporate Responsibility Expert på Ericsson och inbjudna talare är:

  • Vilka är nycklarna för ett framgångsrikt arbete med att respektera mänskliga rättigheter?
  • Diskussion: Vilket stöd hade hjälpt ert arbete med att respektera mänskliga rättigheter?

Målgrupp för eventet

Eventet riktar sig till den som vill få en introduktion till EU:s kommande lagkrav om Human rights due diligence, samt till den som vill bygga grundläggande kunskaper kring hur företag rent praktiskt kan arbeta med att respektera mänskliga rättigheter.
–Eventet lämpar sig för såväl stora som små företag då EU:s lagkrav väntas beröra samtliga företag.
–Det är heller inte nödvändigt att ha hållbarhet som huvudarbetsuppgift, så bjud gärna in kollegor som berörs av ert arbete med mänskliga rättigheter.
